Philippe restaurant – Melbourne

Philippe restaurant – Melbourne

Philippe is an award winning French restaurant based within the heart of upmarket Collins Street, Melbourne, serving the finest traditional and contemporary French cuisine in a facility to match.

Crosier Scott Architects were engaged to conceptualise a design reflective of the calibre of food provided. The refit included an oyster bar, reinvigorated dining area, bar, and kitchen to ignite the senses and create a unique French dining experience in the hub of Melbourne’s CBD. The barcounter has been cladded with zinc to compliment the backlit stone display to both reflect the heritage of the building and aspired French vibe. The basement setting has challenged design ambitions through the roof curvature and lack of natural lighting. Configuration of the restaurant has been considered to capture and enhance pockets of light accompanied by artificial soft lighting solutions helping transition the restaurant from day to night seamlessly. This design combines the intricacies of architecture with the personality of interior design to create a high class dining experience reflective of French heritage.
